MD is a common file extension for Markdown. In this tool, Word to MD and Word to Markdown describe the same conversion: turning a Word document into Markdown text.

Does this tool support DOCX to Markdown?
Yes. This converter supports .docx files and converts them into editable Markdown.
Does this tool support .doc files?
Currently, this converter supports .docx files only. Legacy .doc files are not supported in V1. You can save your .doc file as .docx and upload it again.
Can I edit the Markdown before downloading?
Yes. After conversion, you can enter Edit mode, update the Markdown, preview the result, then copy or download the edited version.
Does it keep tables?
Basic tables are converted into Markdown tables. Some tables may not convert perfectly, so please review the output before downloading.
What happens to images?
If your document contains images, the Markdown will reference them with relative paths such as images/image-1.png. Download the ZIP file if you want to keep the Markdown and image files together.
Are my files uploaded or stored?
Your documents are processed locally in your browser. We do not upload, store, or read your files.
Is Download All ZIP available?
You can download each converted Markdown file individually. When the current document contains images, use the current-file ZIP to keep the Markdown and image files together.
Do I need an account?
No. You can convert, preview, edit, copy, and download files without creating an account.
Why does converted Markdown sometimes need review?
Word documents can contain complex formatting, tables, images, and nested lists. The converter tries to keep the structure clean, but some output may need review before copying or downloading.
